Founded in 2019, we are an indigenous non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the Sudd Wetlands and empowering communities across South Sudan.
How We Started
Sudd Environment Agency (SEA) was founded in 2019 out of a deep concern for the rapid degradation of South Sudan's unique ecosystems, particularly the iconic Sudd Wetlands. With the Head Office located in Juba and branches in Unity and Upper Nile States, SEA has grown into a trusted voice for environmental advocacy.
We are legally registered with the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) under the NGO Act 2016, registration number 2360, and we hold a Tax Identification Number (TIN) from the National Revenue Authority. Our commitment to transparency and compliance is unwavering.

Vision
Envision a South Sudan where water resources are managed to enhance socioeconomic development, tackle climate change factors, and promote wildlife conservation.
Mission Statement
Empowering both local authorities and communities through advocacy focusing on wetlands, wildlife, and responding to climate change factors to build a healthy nation where exploitation of natural resources offers no harm to society and livestock.
Our Strategy & Approach
To advocate and sensitize for appropriate management of natural resources, wildlife game parks to enhance socioeconomic development while ensuring the safety of the environment and the ecosystem.
1. Advocacy & Awareness
We lead campaigns to educate communities, authorities, and oil operators on the degradation of the Sudd Wetlands and advocate for adherence to domestic and international environmental laws.
2. Community Engagement & Capacity Building
We empower local authorities and communities through training on resilience farming, agroforestry, and sustainable practices, ensuring they take direct responsibility for monitoring and conservation.
3. Policy Influence & Monitoring
We work with institutions to strengthen laws, promote wise use of wetlands, and monitor wildlife protection, while responding to emergencies to save lives and restore dignity.
